Packing and materials

Full-service packing for Florida moves

Packing is the part of a move most people underestimate. You can hand all of it to us, keep all of it, or split it down the middle. When we pack, it happens the day before the move rather than the same morning, and every carton is labelled for the room it is going to at the destination rather than the one it came from.

Step by step

How a packing day runs

Packing is scheduled as its own visit for anything larger than a small apartment, so move day is only about loading.

  1. Step 1: Walk the rooms

We go through the home with you and agree what you are packing and what we are packing, including the awkward places — garage, closets, and anything already boxed.

  2. Step 2: Pack by room

Cartons are filled room by room rather than mixing rooms in a box, because a box with three rooms in it has nowhere to be delivered.

  3. Step 3: Label to the destination

Each carton is marked with the room it belongs to at the new address, and fragile cartons are marked so the crew loads them accordingly.

  4. Step 4: Load the next day

Move day starts with a packed house, so the crew is protecting floors and loading rather than still taping boxes at noon.

Questions

Full-Service Packing questions

Do I have to hand over the whole house?

No. You can have us pack everything, pack it all yourself, or split it. The common split is that we handle the kitchen, glassware, artwork and electronics, and you handle clothes, books and linens.

Does packing happen on move day?

For anything more than a small apartment, packing is done the day before rather than the same morning. Trying to pack and load a full home in one day is how move days run long.

How are boxes labelled?

By the room they are going to at the destination, not the room they came from — so boxes are delivered where you actually want them. Fragile cartons are marked so the crew loads them accordingly.

What about hanging clothes and mattresses?

Hanging clothes go into wardrobe cartons so they arrive on their hangers, and mattresses go into mattress bags. Neither should travel loose.

What does full packing cost?

Full packing is priced separately for both local and long-distance moves, at approximately $1.00–$1.25 per cubic foot depending on the shipment and packing requirements.

Are boxes and materials included in the price?

Standard packing may include cartons, paper, protective wrap, tape and other agreed supplies — the exact materials are part of the packing scope in your estimate. Cartons can also be purchased separately, without the packing labour.

Is unpacking included?

Unpacking and empty-carton removal are additional services unless they are specifically included in your estimate.

Does full packing cover the garage, attic or outdoor storage?

Yes. Full-service packing can include garages, attics, patios, sheds and outdoor storage areas, provided the items are safe and legal to transport and accessible to the crew.
